BOARD MEETING  MINUTES

                                                         November 15, 2009

 

 

 

ATTENDEES:                                                   

Brett Malott, Martha Hoppe, Anne Smithson, Pam Wilson, Etta Marie Coyle, Tricia Whitler, Nancy Daniel, John Wilbanks, George Tiegs, Randy Smithson, Melissa Rembecki, Bob Edwards, Cindy Whitten, and Wilma Edwards.

 

MEETING CALL TO ORDER:

Melissa Rembecki called the meeting to order at 12:45 and read the devotional.

                 

 

MEETING MINUTES:

Minutes from September 20 were handed out for review and comments.  There were no corrections.  George Tiegs  moved they be approved, and the motion was seconded by Brett Malott.  The motion carried.

 

FINANCIAL REPORT:

Brett Malott reported that the church’s investment account value was up and made a motion that we liquidate the account except for $500.00.  After a discussion by the whole board, John Wilbanks  seconded the motion.

George Tiegs presented the budget for 2010.  It was discussed and John Wilbanks made a motion that the budget be accepted.  Cindy Whitten seconded and the motion passed.

 

 

OLD BUSINESS::

There will be a congregational meeting called for December 6.

 

NEW BUSINESS:  

Nominees for new board members for 2010 were presented. They are as follows:

Chairperson of the Church Board: Pam Wilson

Treasurer: Brett Malott

Membership: Velvet Scholz and Anne Smithson

Property:  John McCasland

The executive committee will fill the two vacant positions and the list of nominees will be presented at the congregational meeting on December 6.  A motion to approve all this was made by Cindy Whitten and seconded by Brett Malott.

 

 

DEPARTMENTAL REPORTS:

 

PERSONNEL COMMITTEE:  JOHN WILBANKS

   No Report

 

EDUCATION:  Tricia Whitler

 No Report.

 

EVANGELISM:  Elders

The Roos family is a possibility for membership, and one new member family may be moving.

 

MEMBERSHIP:  

 Anne Smithson reported that we will have a dinner and Christmas Workshop on December 6.

 

 

OUTREACH:  MARTHA HOPPE

 CCA is in need of food and diapers before the holidays.  Also there is a need for toys for Mike’s Kids.  Martha also mentioned some individual jobs that we could all help with.  Some of these were CCA, or helping out with Angel Tree or maybe at the Fowler Home.

 

PROPERTY:  John McCasland

 Randy reported that we had gotten four bids for work on the trees in front of the church.  Alejandro Marquez turned in the best bid and has almost completed the job.

 

STEWARDSHIP: George Tiegs   

This report was included in with the treasurer’s report.

 

WORSHIP:  ANNE SMITHSON 

 This will be a busy month for SACC beginning with Thanksgiving Sunday on November 22.  On November 28 we will decorate for Christmas. Sunday, November29 is the first Sunday of Advent and a Service of Lessons & Carols.  Saturday, December 5, will be the Nativity Exhibit at the Mormon Church, and our choir will sing from 5-5:30.  A dinner and Christmas  Workshop will be on December 6; the choir cantata  on December 13 at 11:00; caroling at Prestonwood Ct. at 4:00 on December 20: and the Christmas Eve Service at 5:00 on December 24.

 

REPORTS FROM FELLOWSHIP GROUPS:

 

DWM:  Etta MARIE COYLE

 The ladies are still selling cokes as a money maker.  Some of our ladies attended a luncheon that honored Nita Allen.  The ladies will donate $100.00 for Mike’s Kids.

 

CMF:

The men met on November 15 and will have the next meeting on December 20 and will invite their wives for breakfast that day.  They are donating $100.00 to a shopping trip to buy toys for Mike’s Kids.

 

SENIOR FELLOWSHIP:

The November meeting will be on the 21st and will be a Thanksgiving dinner cooked by the Youth of the Church as a money maker to purchase toys for Mike’s Kids.

 

ELDERS:  RANDY SMITHSON  

 Randy reported that the Elders are continuing their study from the Stevens Ministry on how to help people who are suffering with grief or loss.  He also said that Irmgard needs help with transportation to see her husband at the re-hab hospital in Plano.

 

MUSIC:  LISA MORALES

Anne reported that Lisa wants to thank all the people who help with the choir and bell ringing at the church.  She also included a busy schedule at SACC for the next month.  This is included in the Worship report.

 Randy mentioned the Pastor’s Symposium and announced that Carolyn Bullard will be preaching on December 6.
