WORK OF THE ELDERS

           

            Since 2008, the Elders of the congregation have worked intentionally and directly in the area of Evangelism.  The Chairperson of Evangelism should work with the Elders and others committed to the ministry of evangelism.

 

PRINT WORK

            Review and update the leaflets and brochures used by the congregation to inform members visitors.  (e.g. Church brochure;  Youth Brochure)

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

            1.  Prepare and submit articles about church events to local newspapers and appropriate electronic bulletin boards and web sites.

            2.  Church Marquee.  Evaluate the use of the marquee.  Recruit a volunteer to change and keep the marquee current on a week-to-week basis.

 

WEB SITE UPDATES  

            Work with the Membership Department and the church staff to update the church web site.  Include information useful to persons who are looking for a church in the area.

 

REACHING OUT TO VISITORS

            1.  Work with staff to send a Letter of Greeting immediately after visitors attend worship.

            2.  Encourage staff to create a PDF with the information about the visitors and send the file to elders for follow-up contacts.

            3.  Elders contact the visitors by phone, cards, or email during the first week after the visitors come to worship.

            4.  Elders add the visitors to a flock (shepherding group) when the visitors show interest in returning to SACC.

            5.  Staff makes contact with the visitors by phone to provide additional information about the church.
