Management—Overview (“The Big Picture”)
The SACC facilities belong to the whole congregation. The buildings and grounds help the church create an inviting, welcoming environment of hospitality. The facilities of the church are assets which help the church grow and serve in the community.
Appearance and function combine to make the work of the department challenging each year. The department works to develop and direct programs in the areas below.
Landscaping and Grounds
- Assess the condition of the lawn and landscaping;
- Review contracts for value and quality of work performed;
- Schedule church workdays for specific projects and for important tasks of
maintenance not covered by contracts;
- Remedy all safety issues that have potential to put members or visitors at risk.
Building(s) and Maintenance
- Review and assess the condition of the building(s);
- Review all contracts related to utilities, janitorial services, and office equipment;
- Review purchasing of office supplies, equipment, cleaning products, and other materials related to maintenance;
- Seek and involve members with appropriate skills to help with maintenance and upgrades.
Operations
- Review agreements with community-based groups using SACC facilities;
- Monitor utility usage
- Assist staff in finding solutions to problematic areas of operations.
