Stewardship Education
Promote growth in Christian stewardship by providing educational and inspirational information throughout the year.
- write articles for the monthly church newsletter;
- present stewardship information to the Church Board;
- provide selected readings for the Offertory Statement during the Sunday morning worship service.
Reporting
The Chairperson of Stewardship is the principal leader and spokesperson
regarding the finances of the church.
- study the financial report carefully each month;
- assist and support the Church Treasurer to prepare a report for each meeting of the Church Board;
- work with the Church Secretary to get Quarterly and Year End Records of Giving to members of the church in a timely way.
Financial Management
Review and monitor the day-to-day financial decisions of the church.
- meet with the Church Secretary to review check requests, bills paid, and ongoing commitments such as mortgage, utilities, and payroll;
- evaluate actual income and expense levels in relation to budget.
Stewardship Committee
Recruit a ministry group to work together throughout the year.
- select a theme for the Annual Stewardship Campaign;
- develop a timeline for the campaign;
- Recruit speakers for worship and persons to write letters for the campaign;
- develop a working budget for the following year for presentation to the Church Board at its November meeting
- Review recommendations from the Personnel Committee regarding staff
positions and compensation;
- Review and approve or adjust budget requests from departments;
- Review and make recommendations regarding the church’s investments;
- Review, revise and promote the church’s program for receiving major gifts.
